About the Author,
Patricia L. Dick
Sap and Green People
A Pilgrimage with Charlie
Patricia Dick taught English and literature in several school systems, and
during that time, she published articles in educational journals and was named a
participant in the Missouri Writing Project based at the University of
Missouri-Columbia.
As co-owner of a tour company, the author next wrote promotional travel
literature until she decided to devote herself to writing fiction, an ambition
she’d secretly harbored since she made up bedtime stories to tell campers when
she was a Girl Scout, an ambition acknowledged while she took a creative writing
course in college but forsook again until she wrote her first book,
Sap and
Green People, a touching, humorous, realistic novel about life in a senior’s
community and the problems and adjustments that seniors face.
A Pilgrimage With Charlie, Mrs. Dick’s second book, touches and amuses while
describing one woman’s very personal way of dealing with loss and grief.
Patricia, an honor student at Albion College, was designated a member of Mortar
Board and Phi Beta Kappa, and she earned a master’s degree in English at the
University of Southern Illinois. She was later named The Professional Woman for
the Year in her then-hometown, Florissant, Missouri; an Albion College
Distinguished Alumni; and most recently, “Ageless” by the St. Louis, Missouri,
St. Andrew’s Society.
Mrs. Dick grew up in Michigan and now resides in Missouri. She lives with her
husband in suburban St. Louis, close to her three children and their families.
